Roddick's Racquet Smash in Madrid (video)

Love how Jason compares the initial racquet smash with Gonzo. I miss a good Gonzo racquet smash. But Roddick asking Mo if he has gotten a warning and then continuing to smash it when learning he hasn't yet? CLASSIC

Juan Carlos & Ferru take the Subway (Video)

They both look like perfection. Especially Ferru, from the hair to the clothes to the smile. Did I mention the hair?

The only thing that could have made this appearance better was if they broke into song. Like this.

Subway! Err, I mean, ¡Metro!

Look Who Won a Match

Isner defeated Fish 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(3) in just under 3 hours today at the Mutua Madrid Open. Although John could not convert the 6 (!) break point chances he had, he overall played really well. For him. On clay. Kidding aside, he fought well, he put bad points behind him, and played a solid match. Plenty of positives.

It also marks the first time that Isner has beaten Fish (was previously 0-2) and is the highest ranked player he has beaten all year. He has beaten anyone in the top 20 since Davydenko last year in Beijing. Needless to say, he needed the win. Isner has lost a lot of tight matches in the last set this year. Let's hope this win gives him the confidence he needs to make a run. Any sort of run. Even if that run does not come till grass.

He faces Stakhovsky next, who won in a tight 3 setter of his own over Montanes, 7-6(6), 3-6, 7-6(5). I would tentatively favor John in that match. But it's clay, so I would not call him a favorite in any match. After that it would be Ferrer, and then Djokovic. So yeah...let's just be happy Isner won today....#smallvictories

Kissing Hardware

Plenty of trophy smooching went down in the finals of Belgrade, Estoril, and Munich yesterday. In a surprise to, well, no one, Novak claimed the title of his own tournament, defeating Lopez 7-6(4), 6-2. Djokovic is now 27-0 for the year. I think we should all make a friendly wager on when the winning streak will end. I mean, he can't go undefeated for the year. Right?

Over in Portugal, Juan Martin del Potro looked rather dashing kissing the Estoril trophy, beating Verdasco 6-2, 6-2. This is Delpo's 2nd title of the year (the other in Delray, d. Tipsarevic 6-4. 6-4). And he shot up 14 spots in the rankings to number 32. Can we safely declare that he is back? All I can say, is that no one to going to want him in their part of the draw in Roland Garros.

Personally, I was most excited to see Davydenko win the title in Munich, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 over Mayer. I have greatly missed playstation Kolya, and I hope he can keep his level of play up.

Plus, you got to love how Kolya keeps it real. Screw kissing the trophy, it's all about the car.
